View from the Bridge

Welcome!

This blog is a "proof of concept" for the use of blogs as a communication tool for Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS). The intranet development team ("iTeam") has heard whispers of rumors that users within Health Services would like blogging functionality on iSITE (the CCHS intranet), but the existing internal plumbing in iSITE does not yet support blogs. However, external sources like Blogger can be easily integrated to bring blogging functionality to iSITE.

We are launching this blog on behalf of Information Systems to (a) show that it can be done, (b) show how it can be done, and (c) see how useful it might be -- does anyone care? Will they read it? Will they post to it?

The blog is called "The Bridge" because we hope it will be like "an upper deck where a ship is steered and the captain stands" -- a place where IS staff and our collaborative partners can come to get an overview of the direction that information technology (IT) is taking in CCHS. And we also expect it to be a bridge in the more typical sense -- "a structure that allows people to cross an obstacle": in other words a tool to close the communications gaps among IS staff and stakeholders.

Initially, the blog will feature posts from IS directors and supervisors, but all IS staff and CCHS visitors will be free to comment on posts. All comments will be moderated for "appropriateness".

If other IS staff members are interested in creating original posts, please contact Marc Miyashiro to request an account. If other CCHS communities are interested in creating their own blogs, please contact Marc, the IS Information Architect, for further assistance.
