Are we there yet?

Well, this is my first Blog adventure, so please excuse my naivete'. Hopefully, this will have lots of great dialogs and ideas for all of us to use. Can't wait 'til we get there. Thanks for your help Mark M.

External Access Workgroup

Representatives of key technologies met on December 11 to review the various methods used to gain access to CCHS network resources from external locations.
The methods under discussion were:
  • Milhouse VPN (Virtual Private Network)
  • DoIT VPN Token
  • CCHS Extranet
The "Milhouse" method, named for the server that manages access rights, is the way most CCHS employees get access to the network from their home computers. Employees may get access via this method by submitting a request for "Remote Access" using the System Access tab in iHELP. For more information, see the Information Systems homepage: User Support/Administrative Systems/VPN-External Access.

The DoIT VPN Token requires a separate piece of hardware from DoIT, but this method is used by some IS staff because it enables them to perform system maintenance tasks remotely.

The Extranet does not yet exist, but it is being developed to provide access to specific systems for external contract providers and community partners. Current targets for Extranet access include BHCi, IRIS, and WESS.

Kicking the Tires on Blogger

A comment on the previous post complained that the link to the team site didn't work. Imagine my embarrassment!

A quick inspection suggested that it was simply a bad link, so I went in and edited the post to correct the link syntax. Upon re-publishing the post, however, I found I still had the same error -- the link had not changed!

After several more attempts to correct it, I came to the conclusion that blogger is somehow truncating the URL when I attempt to attach it to blog text as link.

So I tried pasting the link text directly into the blog. This finally worked, although it still took multiple attempts to get the full URL to stick. But the URL still doesn't work if you click it in the blog, possibly because the address is broken into two lines. However, if you select and copy the entire URL from the blog, you can paste it into your browser address bar, and then it works.

I will try to do some research on Blogger to see if this is a known bug, er, feature. But if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

UPDATE
I went back and edited the previous post in HTML mode, and now the link seems to work. I guess the GUI tools are kind of sketchy.
